Retail space developer wants to transform lot next to Station Inn

Nashville-based retail developer Mark Banks is hoping to bring a boutique hotel to the Gulch.
Banks, president of Retail Partners Development LLC, said he is finalizing plans for rehabbing the 12th Avenue cinderblock building located next to the structure home to The Station Inn.
If all goes as planned, the nondescript building will house a five-room boutique hotel.
In addition, Banks plans to construct an approximately 700-square-foot building that would be positioned between the sidewalk and the existing cinderblock structure, the address for which is 404 12th Ave. S.
His plan is to have a restaurant occupy the new building.
“We’ve secured the site through a long-term lease,” Banks said. “We’re still developing the concept.”
Banks, who has yet to announce a start date or price tag for the development, has secured a permit to begin work. Metro Planning Department and Metro Development and Housing Agency guidelines have been met, subject to any modifications to the plan also being approved.
The Bradley Development Group LLC will serve as general contractor.
Relatedly, Chattanooga-based Vision Hospitality is preparing to demolish two Gulch structures at the Division Street site on which the company plans to develop a Fairfield Inn hotel.
